STAR SCREENS
How Do Star Screens Work ?
Material feeds out of the hopper onto the star screen, also known as the "Starbed". The stars are mounted on parallel shafts closely spaced as shown in the partial top view to the right.  The shafts rotate, convey the material upwards and bounce it on the stars' flexible fingers which separates the fines from the larger material. The fine material passes between the stars in the  "zig-zag" open area shown at the right.  The overs  pass off the end of the starbed.  Our stars are made of a proprietary compound that gives them a "non-stick" characteristic along with flexibility and wear life to handle all organic materials such as sticky compost and mulch.
